A decade ago, New York City police officers handed out hundreds of tickets for “ sex in park.” Last year, they wrote six.

New York City police officers are handing out significantly fewer “sex in park” tickets than they were a decade ago, showing that people aren't.

The NYPD issues far less public-sex summonses these days.

The NYPD gave out 432 tickets for “sex in park” violations in 2007. In 2018 that number had plummeted to six, according to the New York Times.

While hookup apps offer an obvious alternative, cruising—when men seek men for anonymous sex in public places—still happens. And so do.
